MUDA has claimed it was left out of the government secretariat meeting yesterday, despite its staunch support of the current administration.

Party information chief Luqman Long said no invitation was extended to the party.

“We were not even notified about the meeting,” Luqman said.

At last night’s first secretariat meeting, several leaders from the unity government were present but not Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahmanor any other official from the party.

Luqman said Muda will continue to support the unity government and its stance has not changed.

“I think for Muda it is very clear even before the formation of government that we would continue to support the leadership and reform agenda of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

“We want to be together to support the government,” he said.

Luqman also said that the party will reach out to Pakatan Harapan (PH) about communication between the coalition and Muda.

“Of course, if there is any unity government meeting soon, we will be more than happy to join and contribute,” he added.

On Twitter, Muda secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi said that despite the party’s logo displayed on the secretariat’s banner, no invitation was given.

He also claimed that they were not even briefed on the results of the meeting held last night.

Amir said there was no official communication regarding the meeting and that party officials only became aware of it through the media.

“I am the party’s secretary-general. If there were any form of communication, surely it would be through me.

“No letters, messages, emails received. We only knew that the meeting took place through media,” he replied.

Last night, prime minister Anwar Ibrahim, who chaired the meeting, said the secretariat has agreed to form three committees, including one that will focus on the upcoming state polls.

According to the PH chairman, the remaining two committees would deal with strategic communications and government agenda.

Anwar said Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki would head the secretariat while Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof would be secretary-general.

The prime minister said he would chair the monthly secretariat meeting, while deputy chairmen of the secretariats would be selected from party heads in the unity government.

Anwar’s unity government comprises Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, Warisan, Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat, Muda, Parti Bangsa Malaysia and two independent MPs. – February 8, 2023.
