FIVE more Malaysian citizens, who were victims of a job scam syndicate in Cambodia, arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport today.

According to a statement by the Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra), the victims – aged between 17 and 42 years old – were accompanied by a senior Wisma Putra officer and a delegation of policemen who were on a working visit to Cambodia from January 24.

With the return of the five victims, Wisma Putra has so far brought home a total of 346 Malaysian citizens who had fallen victim to job scam syndicates in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand.

Wisma Putra expressed its appreciation to the Cambodian government for its cooperation in rescue efforts, as well as for its willingness to accept the four-day work visit.

Wisma Putra advised the public to be mindful of overseas job listings from dubious sources that offer high salaries, including through social media, mobile apps, or online.

It said it views the problem very seriously, and urged members of the public to lodge reports with police and the ministry if they suspect their family members of having falling prey to job scam syndicates. – Bernama, January 27, 2023.
