PAKATAN Harapan tonight announced its state seat allocation in Penang for the 14th general election.

The announcement was made by PH chief secretary Saifuddin Abdullah at the 10th-anniversary celebration of the pact’s rule in Penang, which was attended by thousands of people.
Of the 40 state seats, DAP will defend its 19 seats – Sungai Puyu, Bagan Jermal, Bagan Dalam, Prai, Jawi, Padang Kota, Pengkalan Kota, Komtar, Tanjung Bungah, Pulau Tikus, Air Putih, Air Itam, Seri Delima, Paya Terubong, Datuk Keramat, Batu Lancang, Sungai Pinang, Padang Lalang and Berapit.
PKR, meanwhile, will defend its 10 seats – Seberang Jaya, Penanti, Pantai Jerejak, Batu Maung, Machang Bubuk, Bukit Tengah, Sungai Bakap, Batu Uban, Kebun Bunga and Bukit Tambun.
The party will contest another four seats, namely Pulau Betong in Balik Pulau, Pinang Tunggal in Kepala Batas, Telok Air Tawar in Tasek Gelugor and Sungai Acheh in Nibong Tebal.

PAS splinter Amanah will run in the Islamist party-controlled Permatang Pasir, and Barisan Nasional-held Sungai Dua in Tasek Gelugor and Bayan Lepas in Balik Pulau.
Seat allocation talks in the run-up to GE14 had been difficult, as Amanah, Bersatu and PKR had overlapping demands for state seats.
As for the allocation of Penang’s 13 parliamentary seats, which was settled in January, DAP will defend its seven seats, namely Bagan, Batu Kawan, Tanjung, Bukit Bendera, Jelutong, Bukit Gelugor and Bukit Mertajam.
PKR will defend Permatang Pauh, Nibong Tebal and Bayan Baru, and the party seeks to reclaim Balik Pulau from BN.
Bersatu will stand in Tasek Gelugor, while Amanah will contest in Kepala Batas. Both seats are now held by BN. – March 11, 2018.
