Apologise, make up to stranded travellers, Anthony Loke tells Batik Air

TRANSPORT Minister Anthony Loke has urged airline Batik Air to take responsibility after an eight-hour delay for a flight to Kuching resulted in passengers being stranded at KLIA on Friday night, Free Malaysia Today reported.

Twitter user Firdaus Jailan had taken to the social media platform to ask the minister to “do something” about the airline company for its lack of attention to passenger comfort.

Firdaus posted a video, which has gone viral, showing stranded passengers sleeping on benches near the departure gate at the airport.

“Delayed from 11pm to 6am, (passengers left to wait) in a cold airport like this? Please do better,” he said.

Loke, in response to Firdaus’ social media post, tweeted: “I have contacted the management of the airline. They will reach out to all passengers affected to apologise and take responsibility.”

Firdaus also said in the video that not a single airline employee could be seen and was told that the flight would be delayed until 2am. However, the flight only departed at 6am.

He added that Batik Air had treated its passengers poorly and did not prepare them for the long wait. – December 27, 2022.
