Shahidan calls for polls in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu

Arau MP Shahidan Kassim believes Perikatan Nasional will secure landslide victories in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu if state elections are held right away. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, December 4, 2022.

ARAU MP Shahidan Kassim has proposed that Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu hold state elections once the voting in Padang Serai and Tioman are completed.

He described it as the best time for the three Perikatan Nasional (PN)-ruled states to do so, thereby consolidating the coalition’s power in each state.

“After this election (Padang Serai), we should go ahead with state polls. I think Kedah, just like in Perlis, will see PN secure a landslide victory,” he told a press conference in Kulim today.

Voters in Padang Serai and Tioman will go to the polls on Wednesday.

PN won 14 out of the 15 state seats in Perlis in the recent election, as well as the three parliamentary constituencies: Padang Besar, Kangar and Arau.

PN also swept all 14 parliamentary seats in Kelantan, all eight in Terengganu, and 13 out of 14 seats in Kedah. – Bernama, December 4, 2022.
