PAKATAN Harapan (PH) chairman Anwar Ibrahim has urged all Malaysians to exercise their democratic right during the 15th general election as this is the best chance to save the country.
He said this election is not about changing the Prime Minister but to make sweeping changes to restore the country.
“Every five years, you have the power to determine the direction of the country. Every five years, you have the power to decide what kind of government you want.”
“Take the opportunity to use the power of democracy that is in your hands,” he said in a special address.
Anwar noted that the government’s duty was to ensure that the country was managed responsibly and that public funds were not wasted on corrupt practices.
“The government must guarantee that the people are provided with the basic necessities of life, such as good schools, sufficient food supply and access to good healthcare and skilled doctors,” he said.
Anwar who will contest for the Tambun parliamentary seat in Perak said Malaysians can realise all these dreams with a stable government.
“A government will be stable if it obeys the constitution. This includes preserving Islam as the federal religion, Malay as the national language, establishing the privileges of the Malays and bumiputeras and the sovereignty of the Malay rulers.”
“The rights of all races will continue to be preserved and their dignity respected like a family,” he said.
He added that a government will be stable if its leaders serve for the sake of the people and not for self-interest.
“A government will be stable if its leader have morals, reject corruption and uphold the rule of law.”
“Once PH forms the government, I will never allow hatred to spread. I emphasise that hostility and hatred between races have no place in our country,” he said. – November 17, 2022.
