Rafizi says not afraid of being sued by Tuan Ibrahim

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli is not afraid of being sued by Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man on allegations that the caretaker environment and water minister had approved a RM2 billion project after parliament was dissolved.

Rafizi said that he had received a letter of demand from Tuan Ibrahim after revealing the alleged appointment of Mangkubumi Sdn Bhd by the Environment and Water Ministry through direct negotiations for the project.

“I don’t want his letter of demand to be used as a mere campaign tool for the remainder of this election campaign, with no suit being filed in court.

“I want to go to court because I have solid evidence about my exposé,” he said in a statement.

It was reported Rafizi had claimed that Tuan Ibrahim, who is PAS deputy president, was in the process of approving a project through direct negotiations for the Sungai Langat 2 flood mitigation plan.

Yesterday, Tuan Ibrahim had sent a letter of demand and given Rafizi seven days to apologise and propose suitable compensation to him.

The letter, which was sent through law firm Yusfarizal Aziz & Zaid, stated that Rafizi must also apologise for his defamatory statement.

Rafizi said since his public exposé, Tuan Ibrahim had claimed his statements were false and untrue.

“His denial (on this matter) seems that Tuan Ibrahim doesn’t know about any decision to appoint Mangkubumi through direct negotiations for such a big project that was handled by his ministry.

“This was his action taken after parliament was dissolved.

“We have evidence that the Sungai Langat flood mitigation project was approved through direct negotiations with Mangkubumi.”

Rafizi said he has come forward to show strong evidence that the project had been approved through direct negotiations with Mangkubumi.

He hopes Tuan Ibrahim can be patient after challenging him to lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

“An MACC report will definitely be lodged if Pakatan Harapan forms the federal government,” he said. – November 11, 2022.
