THE government has approved RM8.94 million for the construction of seven new telecommunication towers in Kota Belud this year, said Usukan assemblyman Salleh Said Keruak.
The former communications and multimedia minister said the project under the National Digital Network Plan would be carried out in Kampung Mandawang, Kampung Lugu, Kampung Pangi, Kampung Lasau Tintapon, SK Labuan, SK Gunsarai and Kampung Lahanas Siba.
“This demonstrates the government’s commitment to broadening coverage and improving the quality of broadband services across the Kota Belud district. For the remote areas, maybe we will use a satellite.”
He said this at the opening of the Security and Economic Improvement talk for Kadamaian constituents at Kampung Melangkap in Kota Belud today.
Salleh also called on the public to take advantage of internet access to venture into digital or online business.
He said it is important for the government to provide internet facilities or access to make it easier for people to run their businesses online.
