DAP leader Lim Guan Eng today called PAS “shameless”, saying it is now trying to win the support of non-Muslims after stating that the group is the cause of corruption in the country.

He was responding to PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin’s statement that the Islamist party is willing to negotiate with non-Muslims as long as they put the Muslim community first.

“Non-Muslims should not be downgraded but embraced instead in an inclusive nature by any responsible political party that seeks to unite the nation,” Lim said in a statement.

“PAS must be reminded that non-Muslims are Malaysian citizens who are not political opponents of PAS.

“Such statements are consistent with the open hostility and contempt towards the rights and dignity of non-Muslims expressed by PAS President, Abdul Hadi Awang.”

Hadi had previously said that non-Muslims were the root of corruption in the country. He had also called Pakatan Harapan a coalition of “bribe takers and receivers.”
