GERAKAN Tanah Air (GTA) will set up a multiracial administration if it captures Putrajaya, its chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad said.

He said GTA will not push aside the rights of the non-Malays.

“We will include other races in the government. The Malay government will benefit the non-Malays,” he said.

“We want to dismiss the voters’ resistance against GTA.”

He said there are many people who want to support GTA.

The Langkawi MP was responding to a question on how GTA is going to get non-Malay votes and win over fence sitters.

On August 4, Dr Mahathir formed GTA, comprising Pejuang, Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia, Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia and Parti Perikatan India Muslim Nasional.

He had previously said GTA would contest 120 parliamentary seats in the peninsula, which is where the majority of Malay voters are, and where Umno had contested.

On fence sitters, Dr Mahathir said GTA must explain to the voters what it is all about.

“We are not going to reject non-Malays. No, we will form a multiracial government,” he said.

“We will form the government with all other parties and races. We want an inclusive government that represents all races.”

Dr Mahathir had said GTA was set up to target Malay and Muslim voters who are fed up with Umno’s brand of politics.

He also said hundreds of civil society groups, professionals and Malay academics will join the coalition.

“This is our movement. We are inviting Malays not because of racism, no… but our efforts are focused against the deviant Malay party that is Umno,” he said. – September 24, 2022.
