MOH reports 1,667 new Covid cases

MALAYSIA logged 1,667 new Covid-19 infections yesterday, taking the national caseload since the onset of the pandemic to 4.82 million.

Seven deaths were reported yesterday – two each in Selangor and Kedah, and one each in Negri Sembilan, Sabah and Johor – bringing the death toll to 36,324.

Selangor posted 358 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (319), Perak (170), Sabah (158), Sarawak (132), Kedah (109), Kelantan (79), Penang (77), Malacca (57), Negri Sembilan (52), Johor (51), Pahang (37), Terengganu (33), Putrajaya (26), Perlis (7) and Labuan (2).

The number of active cases dropped to 24,715 yesterday as 2,028 people recovered from the disease.

Among the active cases, 23,577 (95.4%) were in home quarantine, while 1,079 (4.6%) people were in hospital.

There were 59 patients in intensive care, 37 of whom required respiratory assistance. – September 21, 2022.
