1,307 new Covid cases, lowest in 3 months

MALAYSIA logged 1,307 fresh Covid-19 infections yesterday, the lowest in three months, taking the cumulative cases since the onset of the pandemic to 4,820,197. 

The last time Malaysia reported fewer infections than today was on June 7, where 1,128 cases were reported.

Five deaths were registered yesterday – three in Johor, one each in Kedah and Sabah – bringing the death toll in the country to 36,317. 

Of the new infections, Selangor posted the most number of cases with 312, followed by Kuala Lumpur (200) and Sabah (144). 

Negri Sembilan had 123 cases, Perak (119), Kedah (78), Kelantan (58), Johor (51), Penang (50), Sarawak (50), Malacca (37), Terengganu (34), Pahang (27), Putrajaya (17), Perlis (5) and Labuan (2). 

Active cases declined to 25,083 yesterday as 1,830 people recovered from the disease. 

Among the active cases, 23,866 (95.1%) were in home quarantine, two (0.1%) in low-risk quarantine and treatment centres, and 1,160 (4.8%) in hospitals. 

There were 55 patients in intensive care, 36 of whom required respiratory assistance. – September 20, 2022.
