BARISAN Nasional (BN) chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s claim that the coalition is ready for the 15th general election (GE15) even during flood-prone year-end season shows they are detached from reality, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said.
Taking a dig at the Umno president, Rafizi said BN seems to have forgotten what happened in the past, where floods caused massive suffering to the people.

What is the hurry to call for general election when we are now in a La Nina phenomenon. It's been raining for the last 2 days and the North-East Monsoon is approaching and we can expect massive flooding to occur.
I cannot understand UMNO's logic of forcing a GE now when there is still 10 months to go for the current Parliamentary term. From what we can see, the Govt is very stable and this is the first time in Malaysia's history that the opposition has formally agreed to support the Govt of the day in return for certain political concessions. So really, why must elections be held this year when there are so many challenges like the cost of living, jobs, potential natural catastrophe and not forgetting the lingering Covid-19 pandemic.
No political party wants the GE now. Not PH, not PAS not Bersatu, not GPS, not GRS. I believe even the Council of Rulers too are inclined towards the rakyat in not wanting an election now. Only UMNO wants it to be held ASAP.
I trust the Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Ismail Sabri will see the wisdom of not calling for a vote this year.
