PAKATAN Harapan needs about 20,000 polling and counting agents (Paca) for the 14th general elections to stop electoral fraud, said PKR’s Rafizi Ramli.
The party vice-president said the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) will resort to cheating if the election was too close to call.
“I’m most worried we won’t reach the 20,000 polling agents (target). We only have 3,000 people from Invoke,” he said referring to his volunteer organisation.
Rafizi said the 3,000 volunteers who had undergone Paca training would be sent to 92 marginal seats, which consists of 50 parliament seats and 42 state seats.
One type of electoral fraud Rafizi said BN would commit was to manipulate postal votes from the civil service.
“One million civil servant voters are up for manipulation. It points to two things – Umno is scared and Umno is not confident in civil servant votes,” he said.
“PH parties expect DAP has got its own polling agents. PKR, Bersatu and Amanah are far behind,” Rafizi said.
He explained political parties usually leave Paca agents to be decided by their candidates.
Rafizi urge the public to sign up to be Paca agents or volunteers as the election is close.
“The county needs to buck up quickly. The public has made up their mind. Now we need all the volunteers to prevent any fraudulent activity taking place during elections,” he said. – February 25, 2018.
