PARTI Warisan Sabah has accepted an offer by Sabah Pakatan Harapan to discuss seat allocations for the 14th general election.
This, however, does not mean Warisan will be joining the Opposition coalition, said its president Shafie Apdal.
Shafie said the seat discussions with DAP and PKR are positive but nothing has been finalised.
“We will not join Pakatan Harapan, but we will support them in taking over Putrajaya.
“I previously told PH chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad and DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang that Warisan will not enter Peninsular Malaysia as I want to demand what is due to Sabah, based on the federal constitution, MA63 and the Inter-governmental report,” said Shafie.
Shafie also said time is up for leaders in United Sabah Alliance (USA) as they had their chance to do good when they were in the government.
USA or Gabungan Sabah consist of Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) led by Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) led by Yong Teck Lee, Lajim Ukin’s Harapan Rakyat and Arshad Abdul Mualap’s Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah.
Shafie said these leaders had governed the state previously and could not get traction among Sabahans in their new parties, adding none of them would be able to capture seats on Sabah’s east coast and therefore, will not be able to form a new state government.
“Enough is enough.
“I am not insulting them. But they have to realise there is no way Lajim can win in Semporna, or Jeffrey Kitingan in Tawau, Lahad Datu or Kudat,” he said during the party’s Chinese New Year celebration at the Kian Kok Chinese Middle School in Kota Kinabalu.
Shafie said an opposition party must be able to win enough seats to form a new government in Sabah and USA does not have a strong presence in the east coast districts.
Also present were PKR and Sabah Pakatan Harapan chief Christina Liew, Warisan deputy president Darell Leiking, vice-presidents Jaujan Sambokong, Junz Wong and secretary Loretto Padua Jr, as well as Malaysia Agreement activists Zainnal Ajamain and former Malaysian Human Rights Commissioner Simon Sipaun. – February 24, 2018.
