New Covid cases spike to 4,204, eight deaths

MALAYSIA reported a spike in Covid-19 infections yesterday, logging 4,204 cases compared to 3,213 the previous day.

The CovidNow website showed eight deaths, of which two were dead on arrival.

Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Sabah reported two deaths each, while Selangor and Terengganu reported one death each.

Active cases stood at 44,278, while the virus has claimed 35,985 lives in Malaysia.

Selangor logged the highest number of infections with 1,526 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,080) and Sabah (272).

Perak reported 237 cases, Penang (172), Kedah (168), Negri Sembilan (167),Sarawak (112), Putrajaya (106), Kelantan (90), Johor (82), Malacca (80), Pahang (53), Terengganu (37), Perlis (12) and Labuan (10).

There were 1,537 Covid-19 hospitalisations, 20 of them in intensive care units and 36 on ventilators. – August 3, 2022.
