PERIKATAN Nasional’s first priority is to retain the PAS-governed states of Kelantan, Kedah and Terengganu, said Muhyiddin Yassin.

And while Muhyiddin is aware of Bersatu and Gerakan’s weak standing in the east coast, the former prime minister said PN is capable of winning all the state and parliament seats in Kelantan.

“I expect PN to win 100% at state and parliament levels in Terengganu,” said Muhyiddin at the launch of Terengganu PN in Marang last night.

PAS holds 23 of the 33 state seats and five of the eight parliamentary constituencies in the state. Bersatu has one federal seat. The other two are held by Umno and independent Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, who resigned from PAS last year.

Muhyiddin said that PN also intends to defend Kedah and Kelantan while eyeing Putrajaya.

“Our duty is not to just keep Terengganu, Kedah and Kelantan but to win at the federal level so that we can save Malaysia.

“It’s not enough to win the three states as we want to head the federal government again,” he added.

Muhyiddin said PN will wrap up the seat allocations among the coalition members as soon as possible.

“At the last PN meeting, we decided to finalise the seat allocations so that we can prepare for GE15,” said the Bersatu president.

Muhyiddin said disputes will not arise over seats if all the parties are willing to compromise.

PN is made up of Bersatu, PAS, Gerakan and Sabah-based STAR. Bersatu has 29 parliament seats while PAS and STAR have 17 and one, respectively, giving them a total of 47 after Zuraida Kamaruddin quit Bersatu last month. – July 31, 2022.
