MUHYIDDIN Yassin said today he would be contesting in the next general election but alluded that it could be his last.
However, he was quick to add that he would continue if his services were still necessary.
“Perhaps this coming GE15 (15th general election) is my last term. After that, I will just rest and sit at home with my family.
“Perhaps the time has come, but if the situation is urgent and necessary, God willing, we will think about it,” he said at the National Recovery Council’s dialogue session with the youth in Terengganu today.
The Bersatu president is in Terengganu for the launch of state Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Muhyiddin, who is also PN chairman, became the nation’s eighth prime minister following the fall of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government in February 2020.
Last August, he was forced to resign after losing the trust of the majority of members of parliament.
In the last general election, he contested the Pagoh parliamentary seat on the PH ticket and won with a majority of 6,927 votes. – July 30, 2022.
