TENAGA Nasional Berhad (TNB) has managed to fully restore electricity supply to all affected areas at 3.02pm after the sudden disruption of services in various places nationwide.

In a statement, TNB said the affected areas received full electric supply in stages after the power was disrupted at about 12.39pm.

“The power disruption was fixed as early as 20 minutes after it occurred as a result of the continuous efforts of the TNB Technical Team.”

“The power cut was caused by faulty equipment at the Main Entrance Substation Yong Peng North in Yong Peng, Johor,” TNB said.

Earlier today, it was reported that several areas in the Klang Valley and a few states in the peninsula were hit by power outages.

According to complaints by Internet users, the affected areas in the Klang Valley were Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Bangi, Selayang, Cheras and Bandar Sunway.

Blackouts were also reported in Kedah, Pahang, Negri Sembilan, Perak, and Penang.

In a follow-up statement, TNB gave assurance that the electricity supply in the country was stable and reliable where interruptions could be restored almost immediately.

“We have been able to solve the problem of disruption in a reasonable period, and there were areas that recovered as early as 20 minutes after the supply was cut off.

“Supply restoration can be implemented more efficiently as a result of TNB’s continuous investment in modernising the grid, including digitising it so that the network is more stable, flexible, and consistent,” said TNB President/Chief Executive Officer Baharin Din.

He clarified that the damage at the substation in Johor - already fully operational - was an isolated case and did not involve any fire, adding that TNB would conduct a detailed investigation with the Energy Commission to take preventive measures and improve efforts. – July 27, 2022.
