PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has played down the difference of opinions between himself and newly elected deputy president Rafizi Ramli on Pakatan Harapan’s collaboration with other parties.

“He will be different once he begins his duties as deputy president,” said Anwar during a press conference at the 16th PKR Congress in Shah Alam today.

Anwar said that he knew Rafizi very well and believes he will tone down eventually.

The PH chairman was commenting on their differences on the issue of working with non-PH parties during the next elections.

While Anwar has kept the door open for negotiations with other parties, Rafizi has firmly voiced his disagreement to it after Bersatu caused the fall of the Pakatan government in 2020.

Earlier today, Rafizi had again voiced his disagreement after Anwar’s policy speech noted that he was willing to discuss with other parties.

While Rafizi has made the “big tent” issue part of his campaign in the party polls, Anwar insists that it is not a problem between the two leaders.

“What is important is his commitment to work together and forge ahead.”

“In terms of style, we are different as I’m more inclusive and conciliatory and I avoid unnecessary bickering on internal issues as we have enough forums to deliberate. But that’s Rafizi,” said the 74-year-old Opposition Leader.

Anwar said that the two had a three-hour meeting recently.

“There were some things we agreed on and some that were rejected. But he (Rafizi) is not a blind follower.”

The Port Dickson MP added that PKR was different from other parties as they accepted different views.

“I do hope that we can pacify him to focus on our enemies and not the party. Internal issues should be discussed internally and I feel that 90% of the delegates said the same.”

“This matter will not drag on. I know him well and he is a positive person.”

Anwar was confident that Rafizi will toe-the-line eventually.

“He’s now on the sidelines and not in the main leadership. Once he’s in and we decide on matters, he will have to defend the party,” said Anwar. – July 16, 2022.

  • You just want YES MAN to be around you that's for sure and ending up getting the party clueless and headless just like you. Do the honourable thing, steps a side.
