SUPPORT for Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob must not wane as he has done nothing wrong in his 10 months in office, said sacked Umno Supreme Council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.

He said the council had previously nominated Ismail Sabri as prime minister candidate for Barisan Nasional (BN) for the 15th General Election (GE15).

“In the past hear, has there been anything wrong with the prime minister? Is there anything wrong? Nothing.”

“Why are all kinds of accusations made as if he is not qualified to be the prime minister? We want the prime minister to continue being the prime minister until after the election,” said Tajuddin in his Pasir Salak constituency today.

The federal lawmaker was attending a Keluarga Malaysia event for Perak.

The Pasir Salak MP said he would continue to support Ismail Sabri as prime minister.

“I remain loyal and support the prime minister, let people say anything about him, some say he is soft, whatever. He will show if he’s soft or hard.”

Tajuddin said that Ismail had implemented various measures for the welfare of the people since he was appointed prime minister.

“We know that in less than a year he has handled the Covid-19 pandemic, otherwise many more people would have died. They don’t appreciate anything. The price of goods is also being taken care of so as not to burden the people too much. “

“As a people’s representative and Umno division head, I guarantee Pasir Salak will give solid support to the prime minister. Don’t mess with me,” said Tajuddin.

Ismail Sabri was recently criticised by Johor Umno deputy chief Nur Jazlan Mohamed for being weak and a “political hostage” to certain parties.

He is an Umno Vice-president, heads a government comprising Barisan Nasional, Perikatan Nasional and Sabah and Sarawak parties.

Within Umno, he is under pressure from the “court cluster” faction that includes Najib Razak and party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to hold early polls.

Tajuddin was recently axed as Umno supreme council member for being critical of the party, according to Zahid.

He then held a press conference to spill the beans on Zahid and Najib’s support for Pakatan Harapan’s Anwar Ibrahim to be prime minister in September 2020, against the Umno mantra of “No Anwar, no DAP”, although this did not materialise. – July 3, 2022.
