THERE will be no more re-elections for the PKR 2022 polls other than the one held in Ampang, sources told The Malaysian Insight.

“All the other results will stand,” said one of the party’s vice-president candidates in this year’s party polls.

“The official results will most likely be announced during the PKR Congress in two weeks’ time,” he added.

Although there were suggestions for re-elections in nine other divisions, the source said, that will not happen.

“With GE15 around the corner, nobody wants these kinds of distractions. The results will stand,” he said.

The party will hold its annual congress at the Ideal Convention Centre in Shah Alam on July 15-17.

Another vice president candidate confirmed to The Malaysian Insight that the party will not conduct any more division elections after Ampang.

“We have checked and all the results will stand. The re-election is only for Ampang.”

PKR Ampang division held a second election on June 29 after the divisional results were nullified following allegations of vote-buying involving the newly elected division chief.

In the divisional race last month, Daing Muhammad Reduan Bachok, who obtained 942 votes had defeated actor-turned-politician Hans Isaac (609 votes) and Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman Alhadad (589 votes) and three others.

According to unofficial results, Hans Issac has claimed the Ampang division after winning 748 votes to fellow celebrity Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman Alhadad’s 746 votes.

Following the party’s decision to overturn the results, rumours had emerged that there were also irregularities in nine other division elections and that the party may have fresh elections in the affected divisions too.

According to party speculation, fresh elections would be held for the deputy president and vice-president posts in the nine divisions. Incidentally, one of the nine divisions includes party president Anwar Ibrahim’s Port Dickson division.

On May 30, former vice-president Rafizi Ramli defeated PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to bag the deputy president’s post.
