PAKATAN Harapan has resolved the parliamentary seat allocations in four states for 14th general election, said its chairman, Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
He said the opposition coalition would now look into how the state seats would divided among its four partners – PKR, DAP, Amanah and Bersatu.
“As for the state seats, we still have a few areas that the coalition has yet to decide on.
Dr Mahathir said when the seats had been allocated, it will be brought to the PH presidential council and then disseminated to the divisions PH’s component parties.
“The decision (of the seats) must be accepted by all the parties.”
However, Dr Mahathir did not name the states where seat allocations had been resolved.
Dr Mahathir also said that PH’s manifesto must not be bound by the its leaders’ previous promises as the coalition has to be realistic on what it could achieve if it took power.
“The manifesto (to be presented) must be realistic and achievable.
“We understand that before we complete the manifesto some PH leaders have made some statements
“We cannot be bound by the statements made if we find that it can’t be fulfilled when we take over the government.”
Dr Mahathir said PH is making amendments to their manifesto before launching it soon.
“We have made 60 promises (in the manifesto) and we hope to achieve them. It might not be what the people expect.
“But we will continue to strive to do something because Najib Razak has placed the government in a situation where we are in debt.
“That’s why we feel that government funds will not be able to support promises that are outrageous.
“We will only make promises (on the things) which we can do.” – February 20, 2018.
