2,302 new Covid-19 cases

Some 2,302 people have been infected with Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, as the country prepares for a new wave of cases in the next few months. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, June 26, 2022.

MALAYSIA recorded 2,302 new Covid-19 infections in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 4.55 million the Health Ministry reported.

The ministry’s CovidNow website showed that Selangor recorded the highest number of infections with 667 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (664), Sabah (192), Penang (173), Negri Sembilan (167), Perak (129), Malacca (68), Johor (55), Putrajaya (45), Pahang (39), Sarawak (36), Kedah (24), Terengganu (18), Kelantan (11), Perlis (10), and Labuan (4).

Meanwhile, no deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, according to Health Ministry GitHub data.

The fatality rate stands at 0.1% and the cumulative fatality rate, 0.8%.

On Thursday, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said a new coronavirus wave is expected to hit the country in the next two or three months – earlier than expected.

He said this is based on the rise in daily infections. – June 26, 2022.
