MALAYSIA recorded 2,512 new Covid-19 infections in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 4,552,359, the Health Ministry reported.
Its CovidNow website showed that Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest number of infections with 796 cases, followed by Selangor (732) and Penang (176).
Other states and Federal Territories that reported infections were Sabah (170), Negri Sembilan (149), Perak (135), Johor (69), Sarawak (55), Malacca (54), Putrajaya (51), Pahang (38), Kedah (37), Terengganu (20), Kelantan (19), Perlis (7), and Labuan (4).
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry’s GitHub data showed three deaths in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Since the pandemic began, Malaysia has recorded 35,746 Covid-19 deaths.
The fatality rate stands at 0.1% and the cumulative fatality rate, 0.8%.
On Thursday, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said a new coronavirus wave is expected to hit the country in the next two or three months – earlier than expected.
