COUPLES intending to get married should do so using legal channels, said the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

He said an orderly and legal marriage will make the couple live in peace and harmony.

It also contributes to a happy marriage, he said in a statement issued by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (Maip) today.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is Maip’s president, suggested the council provide counselling officers to deal with couples with domestic problems to reduce the divorce rate in the state.

The statement stated that Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said this when opening a discourse of the state assistant registrars of Muslim marriage in Kangar yesterday. – Bernama, June 15, 2022.
