PARTI Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) will help the people of Kelantan to file suit against the state government over the longstanding issue of poor water supply.
Pasir Mas division chief Suzainal Adnan Sukri said the party has appointed a lawyer to look into the matter.
“Our lawyer is scrutinising and refining the claims we can make on behalf of the people and consumers. We will ask for the views of experts,” he told The Malaysian Insight.
He said Putra is also disappointed at the feedback received from Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) on the issues it had raised.
He said AKSB has failed to do its duty of maintaining the water tanks of every state and parliamentary constituency.
“So because of that, the water channel is clogged and the water becomes dirty; water does not reach the tank,” he said.
Water supply is one of the main grievances against the 30-year-old PAS administration in Kelantan.
Ironically, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man is the environment and water minister.
However, according to Tuan Ibrahim, the issue of water supply in Kelantan could only be resolved in 40 years and with RM7.3 billion.

Tube wells
Suzainal said he has raised funds to pay for half the cost of digging tube wells for the poor residents of Pasir Mas
He said Putra has helped dig wells for 60 households in Pasir Mas and hopes to help 2,000 in total.
“Right now our programme is for villagers in Pasir Mas who have lost their water supply but we will look at other areas later.”
He said the move is a short-term measure to alleviate suffering.
The businessman said the cost of digging a tube well cost RM800-RM1300 depending on the depth of the well.
Suzainal said the aid has slowed down due to financial constraints. – June 14, 2022.
