THE Education Service Commission (ESC) has agreed to extend the services of teachers appointed in June 2020, whose contracts end on June 9, 2022, on a contract of service basis, Education Minister Radzi Jidin said. 

“We received feedback from ESC yesterday that their contracts will be extended to enable all processes to be implemented properly,” he said at a press conference after the groundbreaking ceremony for SK Putrajaya Presint 8(3) today.

On May 5, Radzi was reported to have said that the fate of 2,600 contract teachers appointed in June 2020 will be protected when their contracts are expected to be extended for two years.
