RAS Adiba Radzi said efforts must be intensified to increase the involvement of persons with disabilities (PWD) in the digital economy.

With the advent of online platforms, digital entrepreneurship opportunities are seen as more inclusive of the community, she added.

The OKU Sentral president said Putrajaya should launch a PWD-inclusive digital economy roadmap to open up more opportunities and provide platforms for the community to be involved in the digital economy, especially online businesses.

It is important for members of the community to master technology to help boost their marketability and enhance social inclusion, she added.

Ras Adiba said she hopes that the government and corporate sector can play a role in ensuring disabled folk are part of the digitisation agenda.

Digital skills can also help young disabled women to generate income online despite being at home, she added.

“It will also provide an advantage to young disabled women who face discrimination in the workplace and social pressure, (which) limit their opportunities for advancement.” – Bernama, May 21, 2022.
