MALAYSIA recorded 2,017 new Covid-19 infections yesterday, compared to 1,469 cases the day before.

Data on the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website showed the total number of infections in the country had reached 4,483,295.

Selangor posted the highest number of infections yesterday with 850, followed by Kuala Lumpur (383) and Penang (145). 

Negri Sembilan logged 129 new cases, Perak (94), Malacca (91), Kedah (64), Johor (63), Sarawak (51), Sabah (42), Putrajaya (39), Pahang (26), Terengganu (19), Kelantan (13), Labuan (5), Perlis (3).

Seven virus-linked deaths were reported yesterday, three of them dead on arrival, bringing the total number of Covid-19 deaths to 35,630.

The fatality rate stood at 0.2% and the cumulative fatality rate, at 0.8%. – May 19, 2022.
