BERSATU wants the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to approve its 21 divisions across the country so it can prepare for the 14th general election, said Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Bersatu president said the party had submitted the registration forms to RoS to have the divisions approved immediately.

“All the divisions are ready but they can’t proceed unless they are officially approved by RoS,” he said at the Bersatu office in Petaling Jaya today.

Muhyiddin said Bersatu leaders could only proceed to set up party branches to comply with the party constitution after the divisions were approved.

“The members who have registered can then choose the branch they wish to belong to.

“This process is crucial so that Bersatu can move forward and carry on with our selection of leaders for the branches.

“If the divisions is not registered then it’s going to be difficult for us.”

Muhyiddin said he would be writing a letter soon to RoS to ask for its cooperation in resolving the complaints it had received on Bersatu’s annual general meeting and other issues.

“We want to know exactly what are they complaining about, and what are the appropriate action we should take against the complaints.

“Until today we have not received any copies of the complaints that were made by these individuals to RoS.”

Bersatu members have alleged that the party had violated the party constitution when it held its first annual general meeting in December last year.

The allegations of unconstitutionality are centred on the party’s failure to call for an AGM at its branches. It was reported that hundreds of complaints were sent to RoS.

Muhyiddin has denied the allegation, saying that branches are only required to hold an AGM when they are a year old.

Muhyiddin today said that action would be taken against members who made unfounded allegations against the party through the media.

“We will refer the members to the disciplinary board and we may even sack them.”

Earlier, Muhyiddin launched the Bersatu crowd funding website to urge Malaysians to support the party ahead of the election.

“The funds are to help our election machinery.

“We need the support of all Malaysians to achieve our mission of changing the government.”
