THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has released three policemen in Penang, who were detained earlier this week for a corruption probe.
The three suspects were released from remand by Penang High Court assistant registrar Ahmad Tajudin Zain earlier today.
Penang MACC director Abdul Aziz Aban said the men were released with a RM10,000 MACC bond.
It was reported that the trio – two lance-corporals and a constable from the Seberang Jaya police station – were arrested separately by MACC for investigations last weekend.
The officers, aged between 26 and 28, were believed to have demanded money from four men suspected of drug offences.
Penang police chief Commissioner Chuah Ghee Lye said the three would reassigned to other duties. – May 26, 2017.
