DEWAN Rakyat Speaker Azhar Azizan Harun should allow MPs to debate the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) report on the MySejahtera application, said Wong Kah Woh.

“As this is an important issue, PAC hopes that the speaker will let MPs debate the report for at least a day,” said the PAC chairman in a statement today.

“PAC recommends that the government consider the PAC report that will be tabled and debated by MPs, before deciding on how much it would pay for the MySejahtera application,” said Wong.

Wong, who is Ipoh Timur MP, said PAC will table the report in Dewan Rakyat within the first week after Parliament’s second meeting of the year, which begins July 18.

According to Wong, PAC had met three government agencies under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) – the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu), the National Security Council (NSC), and the National Cyber Security Agency (Nacsa) – on Thursday.

“During the three-hour meeting, PAC focused on the people involved in appointing KPISoft Sdn Bhd to develop the MySejahtera application in April 2020.

“PAC also touched on the CSR concept and why there was no contract between the developer and the government and the intellectual property owners for the application.”

Wong said PAC will review all the documents and meeting minutes that were provided before deciding on whether to call more witnesses.

He said that PMO was represented by deputy secretaries Sollehuddin Alyubi Zakaria (finance and development) and Mohamad Ismail (management), while Mampu was represented by director Yusoff Ismail.

NSC was represented by director Rodzi Md Saad while Nacsa was represented by chief executive Rahamzan Hashim, said Wong.

The government is in the process of deciding the right price to pay MySejahtera developers.

In March, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin hinted that the government will offer “far lower” than RM300 million for the app services. – Bernama, April 23, 2022.
