THE Terengganu chapter of Bersatu has proposed party president Muhyiddin Yassin as the party’s prime ministerial candidate.

State Bersatu chairman Razali Idris said the former prime minister was the most qualified candidate who had proved his ability to govern the country when he was in the top office.

“Terengganu Bersatu will propose Muhyiddin as the prime ministerial candidate in GE15.

“He has not been rejected by the people and that is why we propose that Muhyiddin be named the prime ministerial candidate.

“If Umno can propose Ismail Sabri Yaakob as its prime ministerial candidate, so can Bersatu (propose Muhyiddin as the party’s PM candidate),” he said after breaking fast with the media in Kuala Terengganu last night.

However, Razali said Bersatu would continue to support the leadership of the prime minister until parliament was dissolved.

He said this when asked about Umno’s decision to nominate Ismail as the party’s GE15 prime ministerial candidate.

Muhyiddin resigned as prime minister on August 16 last year after 15 Umno MPs withdrew their support for him.

During his 17 months in office, Muhyiddin enforced protracted movement control order to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.

He also declared a state pf emergency that was heavily criticised for preventing parliament from sitting. – April 16, 2022.
