MALAYSIA yesterday reported 427 new Covid-19 hospitalisations, more than half of which were patients in the mild categories 1 and 2, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
There were 240 (56.2%) new hospital patients in categories 1 and 2 and 187 (43.8%) in categories 3, 4 and 5.
In total, 2,794 people were in hospital with the virus nationwide; 174 of them were in intensive care and 102 on ventilators.
Noor Hisham said ventilator usage stood at 12% and intensive care unit occupancy for Covid, at 20%.
He said ICU occupancy had reached 100% in Putrajaya and exceeded 50% in Selangor.
Putrajaya has only three ICU beds and all three have been taken up, he said.
Among the 7,739 infections reported yesterday, Noor Hisham said 67 were in categories 3,4 and 5.
Meanwhile, the infectivity rate stood at 0.84. All the states and territories posted an infectivity rate of less than 1.0. β April 12, 2022.
