10,177 new Covid-19 infections, 21 deaths

MALAYSIA logged 10,177 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, a sharp fall from the 14,944 recorded the day before.

The CovidNow website also showed that there were 21 fatalities, none of which was dead on arrival.

This too is a decrease from the previous day’s 31 deaths. 

With the addition of the fresh cases, active cases in the country now stand at 153,463 while the death toll is at 35,280. 

The GitHub database showed Selangor logged the highest number of infections with 5,686 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,008) and Perak (583).

Other states that reported cases were Johor (544), Negri Sembilan (519), Penang (372), Sarawak (350), Kedah (311), Pahang (214), Malacca (206), Terengganu (137), Sabah (106), Kelantan (64), Perlis (29), Putrajaya (28) and Labuan (20).

The database also showed that Johor reported the highest number of fatalities with four deaths. This was followed by Kedah, Pahang and Selangor (3 each), Perak and Sarawak (2 each) and Malacca, Perlis and Kuala Lumpur (1 each). 

Currently there are 2,964 people hospitalised with Covid-19.

Meanwhile, 195 people are being treated in the intensive care unit, with 108 on ventilators. – April 10, 2022.
