THE Ayuh Malaysia campaign launched by Rafizi Ramli aims to win back the voters experiencing political fatigue.
Their indifference is believed to have cost the opposition the Malacca and Johor elections.
Former Pandan MP Rafizi wants to win this group back by focusing on the same issues that were broached in the 2018 general election and which had propelled Pakatan Harapan (PH) into Putrajaya.
“It’s okay If we don’t succeed in changing the views of party members; our goal is to increase the turnout to more than 70%. If we can do that, I don’t think Barisan Nasional (BN) can win big or even win at all.
“It is very likely that those who do not want to go out to vote are the ones who support us. We have to touch their hearts and convince them that we need their help.
“This is not a matter of political leaders vying for position. We have done all this before. If we are consistent, the people will welcome it and we may just gain momentum in the next two, three months.”
The last two state elections saw a low turnout, allowing BN to win a two-thirds majority in Malacca and Johor.
The Malacca elections saw a 65.85% voter turnout and Johor, 54.92%.

PKR vice-president Rafizi said the people were fed up with the politicians who were constantly fighting with each other.
He said the Ayuh Malaysia campaign that he worked on with young PKR leaders will bring up issues that are close to the people, especially young voters and fence-sitters.
“The Malacca and Johor turnouts have given the impression that most people do not care (about politics).
“Pakatan Harapan, PKR must realise that we need to improve our ways.”
He said that through the Ayuh Malaysia platform, the people will be able to pressure the leaders to listen to them.
“If the older people do not want to listen to us, so be it. But young people need to listen because this is for you. Otherwise, if we don’t pressure the government, they won’t listen,” he said.
The Ayuh Malaysia campaign has five agendas: food security, renewable energy, technical and vocational education and training, affordable housing, and educational democracy.
Last night’s event was also attended by PKR youth chairman Akmal Nasir, Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar and Johor PKR Chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh. – March 27, 2022.
