A THREE-YEAR-OLD is now the youngest person in Sarawak to die of Covid-19.

The toddler died at the Miri hospital last Saturday, the state’s disaster management committee said in its daily report on the pandemic today.

The boy was in the high-risk category as he had cerebral palsy and chronic lung infection.

Prior to this, Sarawak’s youngest Covid-19 victim was a five-year-old boy, also from Miri, who died on October 9 last year.

He had obesity issues.

The three-year old’s death was one of two reported in Sarawak today and both raised the state’s Covid-19 fatalities to 1,666.

The other death was that of an 85-year-old Kuching man, who was dead on arrival. He died on Tuesday.

The number of new cases today jumped past the 1,000 mark with 1,400 reported, due to two new clusters involving workplaces.

This raised the number of active clusters in the state to eight. – March 24, 2022.
