22,491 fresh Covid-19 infections, 65 deaths

MALAYSIA logged 22,491 new Covid-19 infections yesterday, up from the previous days 21,483, the Health Ministry said.

The CovidNow website also showed that 65 deaths were reported, of which 15 were dead on arrival.

With the new figures, active cases in the country stand at 248,863 while the death toll stands at 34,600.

The GitHub database showed that Selangor logged the highest number of cases with 10,240 infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,991) and Penang (1,229).

Sarawak logged 1,252 infections, followed by Kedah (1,240), Perak (1,213), Negri Sembilan (1,116), Johor (1,031), Pahang (892), Malacca (573), Kelantan (516), Terengganu (492), Sabah (388), Perlis (106), Labuan (73), and Putrajaya (69).

Of the 65 fatalities, 12 were reported in Selangor, 10 in Johor and 11 in Perak. 

Fatalities were also reported in Malacca and Pahang, which recorded five deaths each, followed by Kedah with four, three each in Negri Sembilan, Sabah, Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur, two in Penang, and one each in Kelantan, Perlis, Terengganu and Labuan.

No deaths were reported in Putrajaya.

Hospitalisations stood at 6,061 as of yesterday, with 332 in the intensive care unit and 189 on respiratory support. – March 24, 2022.
