THE Puteri Umno wing wants Parliament to be dissolved immediately to allow the 15th general election (GE15) to take place, said its head Zahida Zarik Khan.

According to Zahida, the general election should be held soon for the party to continue its recent triumph in Malacca and Johor polls “before we lose momentum”.

“I support our deputy president Mohamad Hassan who in his speech called on Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to call for the dissolution of Parliament.

“We are in our fourth gear and going into the fifth gear. We want to finish the race as soon as possible to achieve victory.

“We need to redeem our dignity after losing in the last election. We are in high spirits, don’t weaken our spirit.

“Don’t look down on young women because we can be more than half the men available here,” she said in her speech during the Umno general assembly today.

Last night, Mohamad in his keynote speech at the joint opening of the party’s Wanita, Youth and Puteri assemblies said the election must be held at the earliest opportunity so that the party can “attack” when the opposition is weak.

Zahida in her speech also waved goodbye to Umno’s one-time ally PAS after the Islamist party had decided to join Perikatan Nasional (PN) along with Bersatu.

“We have repeatedly told PAS that if it wants to be with Bersatu, go with Bersatu. If it wants us (Umno) then come with us, leave Bersatu.

“In Malacca and Johor, PAS decided that it would be more willing to hug party-hoppers and be with scorpions, than be with us in Muafakat Nasional (MN).

“Goodbye PAS. I hope you are happy with your partner among the frogs and scorpions,” she said. – March 17, 2022.
