HOSPITAL admissions continue to rise with 2,048 cases yesterday, compared with 1,929 the day before, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

Of these, 1,277 cases were in categories 1 and 2, while 771 cases were recorded in the more severe categories of 3, 4 and 5.

The five basic categories are asymptomatic (category 1), mild symptoms (category 2), pneumonia-like symptoms (category 3), serious symptoms requiring respiratory support (category 4), and severe symptoms requiring acute medical care (category 5).

There were 302 admissions in Selangor, followed by 259 in Perak and 228 in Johor.

Other states and territories that reported admissions were Kelantan (144), Pahang (133), Kedah (173), Kuala Lumpur (152), Negri Sembilan (133), Sabah (96), Sarawak (103), Penang (136), Terengganu (101), Malacca (45), Perlis (11), Putrajaya (31) and Labuan (1).

Noor Hisham said of the 30,787 daily cases reported, 10,921 are in category 1, 19,642 (category 2), 93 (category 3), 74 (category 4) and 57 (category 5).

Of the 224 new Covid-19 cases in categories 3, 4, and 5 reported, 58 were not vaccinated or not fully vaccinated.

He said that 94 cases have received two doses of vaccine but have not received a booster shot.

“Seventy-two cases received a booster dose while 122 were aged 60 years and above.

“Ninety-six had co-morbidities and two cases were pregnant mothers.” – March 11, 2022.
