Two more die of Covid-19 in Sarawak

A 67 YEAR-OLD man and an 83 year-old woman are the latest to die from Covid-19 in Sarawak, bringing the state’s death toll to 1,632.

The state disaster management committee said the 67 year-old man who died in Miri hospital last Saturday, was suffering from terminal kidney failure.

 The 83 year-old woman, who had a history of hypertension and dyslipidemia, was a death-on-arrival case.

 She was brough in dead to the Sarawak general hospital last Saturday.

 The state reported 1,903 new infections today, up from the 857 yesterday.

 The Premier of Sarawak Abang Johari Openg was among today’s statistics, as he was one of the 1,179 who reported having “mild symptoms”.

The disaster management committee’s report stated there were 712 cases that showed no symptoms, six reporting infection of the lungs, five who had infection and needed oxygen to breathe while one that required a ventilator for assisted breathing.

Most of the cases were in the state’s four most populous areas with Kuching reporting 754 cases, Miri (217), Sibu (194) and Bintulu (154). – March 8, 2022.
