BARISAN Nasional (BN) is gunning for a two-thirds majority victory in the upcoming Johor polls, said Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said the coalition’s chances are good, but it does not intend to settle for merely a simple majority win.
“On behalf of BN, I would say chances are good, but in any competition, we cannot declare victory before the final whistle is blown,” said the prime minister at media conference in Segamat, Johor, today.
As such, the coalition’s election machinery must continue to work hard until a winner is declared, he added.
“I am confident, the Johor menteri besar (candidate) is confident… but confidence alone is not enough, the machinery must keep working to ensure a better performance.
“As I said, we do not want a simple majority; we want more… if possible, two-thirds of the seats.”
BN will be contesting in all 56 seats up for grabs in the state elections on March 12. – Bernama, March 6, 2022.
