A RECORD 32,467 Covid-19 infections were reported yesterday, the Health Ministry said.
Eighty-six people were reported to have died from the virus, 28 of whom were dead on arrival, compared with 115 deaths the previous day.
The coronavirus has killed 33,027 people in Malaysia since the epidemic broke out in March 2020.
Active cases stood at 298, 321 while the total number of infections rose to 3,528,557.
The fatality rate stood at 0.9%, or 19 deaths per population of one million.
A total of 8,322 people are hospitalised with Covid-19. The hospital utilisation rate was at 69.5%, of which 66.9% was due to the coronavirus.
There were 355 people in the intensive care unit, 208 of them in need of respiratory aid.
The GitHub database showed Selangor reported the highest number of infections at 8,053, followed by Kedah (3,242) and Kuala Lumpur (2,881).
Johor, where campaigning for state elections is ongoing, reported 1,979 new virus cases.
The southernmost state also reported the highest Covid deaths with 20 cases, followed by Perak (11) and Kedah (9).
Other states that reported new infections were Kelantan (1,739), Malacca (821), Negri Sembilan (2,045), Pahang (1,912), Perak (1,713), Perlis (273), Penang (2,488), Sabah (2,717), Sarawak (1,206), Terengganu (993), Labuan (270) and Putrajaya (135). β March 4, 2022.
