MALAYSIA recorded 75 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, the highest daily tally since the start of the year, said the Health Ministry.
Of the fresh fatalities, 20 are dead on arrival.
The 75 deaths bring the death toll to 32,749.
Malaysia recorded its highest daily deaths since the start of the pandemic on September 12, with 592.
The country logged 23,100 fresh Covid-19 infections yesterday, down from the 24,466 the day before.
The total number of active cases now stands at 293,423.
The GitHub database shows that of the 75 deaths, Selangor reported the highest with 22, followed by Johor (13), Sabah (11).
Kedah and Perak have seven each, Penang (3), Kelantan (3), Malacca (3), Terengganu (2), Pahang (1), Negri Sembilan (1), Kuala Lumpur (1) and Sarawak (1).
Perlis, Putrajaya and Labuan reported no fatalities.
Selangor continues to record the highest number of daily Covid-19 cases, with 6,098 yesterday.
This is followed by Kedah (2,782), Johor (2,367), Sabah (2,174), Penang (1,728), Perak (1,335), Kelantan (1,200), Pahang (1,147), Negri Sembilan (1,032), Kuala Lumpur (968), Terengganu (756), Malacca (575), Sarawak (442), Perlis (195), Labuan (173) and Putrajaya (128).
A total of 7,881 Covid-19 patients were hospitalised, of which 361 are in intensive care units and 193 in need of respiratory aid.
The national hospital utilisation rate stands at 68.4%, of which 64.2% are Covid-19 cases. β March 1, 2022.
