KLANG Valley residents will be able to channel their complaints to elected representatives soon via the RepotLah app, which will go live in two weeks.
The app will allow users to, among others, report potholes or traffic light malfunctions and upload dashcam clips of unethical drivers in their area.
These complaints will then be channelled to the respective elected representatives for action to be taken.
RepotLah founder Keasavan Hari Krishnan said the app is currently being tested in Kinrara and Subang, Selangor.
Users can upload their complaints via video, pictures and comments on the application, he added.
“Once the complaints are uploaded, they will be sent to the representatives, who have access to the back end where they can view the grouses.
“We are working with several MPs, assemblymen and councillors on this matter.”
The app will receive more features in the coming weeks, such as options to lodge complaints on double-parking, noise pollution, rubbish and smoking at restaurants.
So far, Kapar MP Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid, Kota Damansara MP Shatiri Mansor, Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil, Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, Subang MP Wong Chen and Selangor executive councillor Izham Hashim have pledged their support.
“We are gradually moving to other areas and in talks with 10 other elected representatives,” said Keasavan.
He said his team is working with lawmakers because they have the authority to push for action to be taken on any issue.
“All complaints are moderated by our team before being sent to the representatives.
“Once the upload button is clicked, the app will automatically tag the user’s GPS location.
“The complaints will immediately go to the respective MPs, assemblymen or councillors.
“They will access the complaints and send them to the relevant authorities for action.”

He said in a single view, the elected representatives can see all the complaints in their particular constituency.
The app will tag all report locations on Google Map and Waze, making it easier for authorities to identify the areas in question.
“This will be an integrated platform for all MPs and assemblymen to see what is going on in their area,” said Keasavan.
“We are already working with Kinrara and Subang representatives, and will be engaging with Fahmi next week.”
He said other lawmakers are welcomed to adopt the app.
RepotLah co-founder Mohammed Feirdhauz Khairudin said the team has developed a seamless and interactive app for fellow Malaysians.
“It is as easy as logging into the app and users can start reporting.
“RepotLah also has a built-in community section where users can alert one another of issues in a particular area or discuss local issues.”
As for keeping track of reports, an activity section will collect validated complaints, which will then be submitted to authorities and marked as being under investigation.
Feirdhauz said in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, for example, there are road issues that can cause accidents.
“Sometimes, these issues are not highlighted to authorities, so the app is a good platform to provide information to authorities.
“App users can interact through the like, comment and share features. The share button will allow users to share issues in their community.”
This will enable residents in a particular neighbourhood to share information among themselves, he added.
“For a more detailed view, there is a button for specific communities such as Subang, Kinrara, Kepong, Kapar and other areas.”
The app is free and will be available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. – February 25, 2022.
