PKR late yesterday named seven more candidates for the Johor elections, taking the number of seats the party will contest in the March 12 polls to 13.
Party resident Anwar Ibrahim announced the seven names for seats in the northern zone of the state.
However, Anwar delayed the announcement of candidates who would be contesting in the central zone. He named former education minister Maszlee Malik as the PKR candidate for the Layang-Layang seat.
The central zone covers the areas of Rengit, Kukup, Tenggaroh, Benut, Semarang.
In the northern zone, the PKR candidates are Pagoh branch chief Subramani Chami, 55 (Buloh Kasap); Johor chapter vice -chairman, Yoong Thau, 60 (Pemanis); Muar branch deputy chairman Abdullah Sahid, 59 (Sungai Balang); incumbent, Khuzzan Abu Bakar, 54 (Semerah); Parit Sulong branch deputy chief Azmi Masrani, 68 (Sri Medan); Johor chapter secretary and Muar branch chief, Naim Jusri, 38 (Sri Medan).
Yesterday morning Anwar named five PKR candidates for the southern zone, namely; state women’s wing chairman Napsiah Kamis Maharan (Kempas); Pasir Gudang branch treasurer Dr Zamil Najwah Arbain (Larkin); Tebrau branch Secretary Chong Sen Sern (Bukit Batu); Johor chapter vice-president Gopalakrishnan Subramaniam (Tiram); and Johor youth secretary Mohd Fakhruddin Moslim (Pasir Raja).
PH will work with Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) led by Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman in the Johor polls.
Johor PKR chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh in an earlier statement said PKR had given way to Muda in three seats, which were not named.
Amanah and DAP handed over four and two seats, respectively, to Muda respectively. They are Tenang, Bukit Kepong, Parit Raja, Machap, Puteri Wangsa, and Bukit Permai. – February 15, 2022.
