More than 12.6 million adults get booster shots

SOME 53.9% of the adult population in Malaysia, or more than 12.6 million grown-ups, have received the Covid booster dose as of yesterday.

The CovidNow portal showed more than 22.9 million adults, or 98% of the population aged above 21 have completed their vaccination while 23.2 million, or 99.2%, have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Among minors aged between 12 and 17, more than 2.79 people, or 88.7%, have completed their vaccination while 2.87 million people, 91.2%, have received at least a dose of the vaccine.

A total of 152,358 doses of the vaccine have been dispensed, bringing the number of doses administered under the national vaccination campaign to 64.26 million.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, on a Facebook post, stated that the country’s Covid infectivity rate (Ro/Rt) based on yesterday’s daily cases was at 1.39.

Sarawak recorded the highest RT value at 1.68, followed by Perlis (1.65), Sabah (1.59), Labuan (1.51) and Terengganu 1.40. – Bernama, February 9, 2022.
