New electricity tariff to be announced before Feb 1, says Takiyuddin

PUTRAJAYA will announce the revised electricity tariff before February 1, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Takiyuddin Hassan said.

“The new rates have been discussed in the cabinet six times and it was finalised yesterday.

“We will announce it soon. We will implement the Incentive-Based Regulation (IBR) on February 1 for the third year.

“So you can guess when we will implement the new tariff, maybe before the announcement of the IBR,” he told the media in Dungun, Terengganu.

He said the new tariff would not burden the people.

He also said that the implementation of the new tariff would take into account the state of the country which is recovering from the Covid-19 epidemic and the resulting economic crisis.

The Kota Baru MP added that the electricity tariff for industrial and commercial users may also be revised. – January 27, 2022.
