A WEEK after they scuffled in front of Prime Minister Najib Razak, comedian Sulaiman Yassin, or Mat Over as he is known, and film producer David Teo were seen sitting together at another function attended by the prime minister.

Najib jokingly referred to them during his speech at the launch of the National Transformation Report 2016 this evening in Shah Alam.

“We don’t want any fighting, we want people to be good to each other and to help each other so that the country is peaceful and harmonious.

“In fact, in front of me, Mat Over and major David Teo are also here, seated together. This is good. This is what I, as prime minister, want to see. A united people, that’s the only way to succeed,” Najib said to applause.

Sulaiman, who was also a participant at the prime minister’s TN50 dialogue session with the entertainment industry, had accused Teo of disrespecting Najib.

Although the duo apologised later at the same function, the incident continued to attract controversy after several groups lodged police reports against Teo.

At the end of tonight’s function, Sulaiman insisted he has made peace with Teo and that he held no grudges.

“We came to show a good example to the students. We have already made peace with each other; we sat next to each other. So everything is good,” said Sulaiman.

He said it was the prime minister himself who asked him and Teo to make peace on the day of the incident.

Sulaiman said he had also been informed by police that they would pursue the investigate into the incident as no one was injured and the two parties had made up.

“The police were only concerned that we might harbour grudges and ithat someone was injured. But because none of these things happened, there is no case.” – May 23, 2017.
